Latest IPCC report outlines effects of climate change

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released its latest report. In this report, the world’s top scientists warn that continuing our emission of greenhouse gases “will cause further warming and long-lasting changes in all components of the climate system, increasing the likelihood of severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts for people and ecosystems.”

Greenhouse gas levels are at their highest levels in 800,000 years, the report says. “800,000 years is a very long time,” says FULL CEO Michael Payne, “which makes me think of the next 800,000.” We shouldn’t lose hope, says IPCC chairman Rajendra Pachauri. “There is much we can do to use energy more efficiently.”
