A tale of two cities

The way we build our cities reflects our values. The image above shows two places at the same scale: the city of Florence, Italy on the left and a single Atlanta, Georgia-area freeway cloverleaf on the right. (See link below for image source.)

That’s right. This one freeway intersection is about the same size as the small European city. As architect Steve Mouzon writes, “the need for speed devours huge chunks of American cities and leaves the edges of expressways worthless.”
