The Incredible Shrinking Office

How much space do you really need?

In late 2008, we had about 100 employees working in an office of more than 10,000 square feet. Today, we have more than 300 US employees, but our office is less than 4,000 square feet.

That’s right. Our workforce tripled, while our office shrank by more than half. And since the building sector consumes almost half of all energy produced in the US each year, we think fewer office buildings, and more people working remotely at least some of the time, just makes good sense.

Buildings still use some energy whether anyone’s in them or not. So leaving our homes empty during the day, and offices empty at night, is just plain wasteful. We can do better.
